Sterile Processing is the cleaning, packaging and sterilizing of surgical instruments. This course covers introduction to central service or sterile processing. Topics taught include: microbiology, aseptic technique, disinfection, decontamination, sterilization, and wrapping/packaging of surgical instruments.
Surgical Technician is the setting up of the operating room for surgery and ensuring that all necessary and emergency surgical instruments, medical supplies and equipment is available in the operating room.
Learn CPR - Basic Life Support (BLS) skills and AED. Hands- on Clinical Lab. Earn CEU's. This is an American Heart Association Provider taught class. Instructor is affiliated with Gwinnett Technical College. AHA CPR E-Card provided by Gwinnett Technical College. Contact us to schedule training.

You will learn anatomy & physiology, microbiology, surgical instruments, medical terminology, safety, risk management, regulations, inventory management, ethical responsibilities and communication skills. The hands- on clinical laboratory class experience supports the introduction to the hospital Sterile Processing Decontamination and Distribution Unit and the role of the Sterile Processing Technician. The class is taught by an experienced instructor with working knowledge of sterile processing. Course is 7 weeks attending 2 weekdays or 12 Saturdays. This course is Authorized by the Georgia Non Post Secondary Education Commission. CBSPD National Certification Board Exam Preparation. CBSPD On- Line Course is available. This class is taught 3 times a year.

This course will teach you to able to aid the surgeon and surgical first assistant by having surgical instruments, supplies and devices available on the sterile back table, mayo stand set- up and safely handle these items while using aseptic technique. You will learn how to care for the surgical patient, operating room set-up and disinfect the operating room for the next surgical patient. Topics taught include: medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, microbiology, aseptic technique, infection control, surgical instruments, surgical hand scrub, gowning and gloving, surgical procedures, safety, risk management, regulations, ethical responsibilities and communication skills. The hands- on clinical laboratory class experience supports the introduction to the hospital or surgery center Operating Room Unit and the role of the Surgical Technician. The class is taught by an experienced instructor with working knowledge of Surgical Technician. Course is 9 months attending 2 weekdays or 40 Saturdays. Military Based Training Curriculum. This course is Authorized by the Georgia Non Post Secondary Education Commission. NCCT National Certification Board Exam Preparation. This class is taught 1 time a year.

This is an Advanced Surgical Training Course for healthcare professionals only (such as: surgical technician, surgical first assistant, RNFA, NP, Medical Resident, Medical Student or PA).

Surgeons (ACS), surgical assistants provide aid in
exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other
intraoperative technical functions that help the
surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal
results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative
duties, the surgical assistant also performs
preoperative and postoperative duties to better
facilitate proper patient care. The surgical assistant
performs these functions under the direction and
supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with
hospital policy and appropriate laws and
regulations.”

Upon completion of the surgical first assistant program students will have:
Learn to provide assistance to the surgeon during
surgical procedures that include, exposing the
surgery operative site, aid in hemostasis (control
bleeding), wound closure (suturing) and assist in
emergency, preoperative and postoperative patient care.
This is a Hybrid Course (classes are on- line and in person). Course Length is 7 months.
This course is Authorized by the Georgia Non Post Secondary Education Commission.
Upon successful completion of the surgical first assistant program students become eligible to take the ABSA (The American Board of Surgical Assistants) National Certification Board exam.
This class is taught 5 times a year (Starts the first week in the following months: March, April, May, June and July).
